Our Therapy Approach
Evidence-based therapies are gold standard practices that are shown to be effective across research studies for treating specific concerns (e.g., depression, anxiety). At MNDFL Therapy, our work is collaborative, time-limited, and driven by your goals. We do what works and you get sustainable results.
Types of Therapy We Do
Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
CBT is the most scientifically supported therapy for a range of issues including anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma and difficulty with emotions (e.g. anger, grief). CBT teaches you to challenge your thoughts and change your behavior habits in order to improve your mood and be more effective in life. You’ll become your own therapist with life-long skills to keep you moving forward. CBTs include: Exposure therapy, Exposure Response Prevention (ExRP), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) & Prolonged Exposure (PE), Behavioral Activation, and Rumination-focused CBT.
Mindfulness-based Therapy (MBT)
Mindfulness-based therapies (MBTs) are “third-wave CBTs” because they also target unhelpful thoughts, painful emotions & self-defeating behaviors. However, MBTs also incorporate mindfulness and acceptance skills, which are tools for thinking non-judgementally, living in the present, and embracing uncertainty. MBTs balance changing thoughts & habits that are holding you back, while also accepting aspects of yourself, others and situations in order to reduce suffering. MBTs include: Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT).
